Yes, it has been a long time. Thanks very much Rajiv. I think I’m slowly improving, in processing at least. I used to do my mono conversions in Nik Silver Efex Pro. These days I use Capture One.

Ah. I had Capture One and let it go. It was just one more subscription.
If I learn how to use Da Vinci and Audacity, I will downgrade my Adobe subscription. It’s so expensive. Then, I may go for Capture One again.
Meanwhile i like to convert either in Lightroom or Silver Efex Pro

I presume you’re into video to be interested in Da Vinci and Audacity. I remain solely interested in stills.
I have all my images in Lightroom. It has an excellent catalogue, good selection tools and you can get a half-decent result quickly. You can’t export processed RAW files from any application to another except as TIFFs with much greater file sizes, so I also stay with Lightroom for that reason.
I find with Capture One that I can fairly easily get much more accurate masks than Lightroom, it has excellent colour controls and clarity is much better than Lightroom. I can make regional adjustments on different layers and do things I would otherwise have to do in Photoshop, but much more easily and quickly.
Having done that for the colour image I then make a copy for a mono conversion and can use all those controls in the layers i have already created to adjust tones beyond the basic colour sliders. Control of colour is ironically the key to creating mono images.
I have the stand-alone version of Capture One and if I automatically upgrade it becomes cheaper than the subscription after a couple of years. It is still a bit more expensive than the Adobe Photography Plan (LR & PS) and has I think more of a learning curve than Lightroom.

It would be great to attend a concert in an arena like that.
