I now resume posting on a trip from seven years ago. I posted on Uzbekistan, Istanbul, Thira and Crete some time ago. Still to go are Andalusia, Barcelona, Oregon and Washington.
.
We are leaving Heraklion in Crete and it is just before dawn.

None of these images from the air were entirely sharp, even though the lens had image stabilisation. My shutter speed was 1/800 sec and obviously I didn’t check in camera at 100%. I should have used 1/1500 or 1/2000. I used Topaz Photo AI to correct this problem and most of the images are OK (for web display at least) though a few could be better.

We are above south-east Spain and my guess is that the coast we see is just south of Valencia.
From Heraklion to Athens we flew over cloud with nothing to photograph. From Athens to Barcelona I didn’t have a window seat. The remaining aerial images are from the second part of the flight from Barcelona to Granada.

There are some wind turbines down there.

Patterns in the landscape.

Judging from elapsed time in the air, perhaps the Baetic Mountains, maybe Sierra Nevada.
.
.
.
Looking down on a farm, perhaps an olive grove, and ruined buildings at top left.
.
.
.
A small village, not that far from Granada.
.
.
.
Hmmm. Maybe an enclosure for horses?
.

.
Very close to Granada, but I can’t place exactly where.

I can for this one, because I was able to read the company name of the building at top left. It is Pavimentos Ramos y Ruiz (Pavements produced by Ramos and Ruiz). In the centre right is Castilo de Castillejo, in the village of Lachar, about 20 minutes drive from Granada. It has its origins in the Emirate of Granada but was rebuilt in the neo-Arab style in the late nineteenth century.
.
.
.
We were about to drive around Andalusia and then end up in Granada, so rather than staying in Granada for the first night, I found a place to stay in the nearby countryside.
.
.
.
Jools is exploring the garden in the next morning.

Posting on places we visited seven years ago, I will have forgotten many of the details and place names. At least I have a detailed itinerary to work from, but posts might end up being a little slower than usual.

I especially like the patterns in the landscape shots.
