Salton Sea and Joshua Tree National Park, California, USA, 1 October 2016
Temporary post. Images only. Not even image descriptions.

.
This has been my last temporary post on the trip to Mexico, Guatemala, California, Cuba and the Caribbean.
I will return to make final posts in some months. Before that I will make the final posts for the Falkland Islands, South Georgia Island and the Atacama Desert. Currently, though, I am only posting once each week because I am otherwise occupied. Last weekend I went down to Sydney as official photographer at the Sydney Blues Festival and I now have 3,700 images to process from that. The weekend after next, I am leading a Canberra Photographic Society photographic excursion to Point Hicks in Victoria, to one of the lighthouses I photographed in 1987 and to the surrounding coastline. I will also make a few posts in the near future from those and from a visit to the Sculpture Garden at the Australian National Gallery in Canberra.

Just in case you needed to hear it….You haven’t lost your touch!!

Gosh, 3700 images to process! Oh, well I just say that I enjoyed this series of photographs. And especially those infrared images you used to introduce the lot.

I’ve had my quick round of culling (in FastRawViewer, mainly out of focus or exposure off) and have 2,600 left to deal with. There were 39 bands I covered (I missed another 10) and I produce images for them as well as just the Festival. It will take a while.
And thank you, John. My next post in about a week will be images from the Sculpture Garden, all Infrared and either fisheye or ultratelephoto.

I’ve been missing your posts when you first put them on. Great shots – my favorite is the second one. As to the hummingbirds, I think I recognize that feeder and the wire….

Jools says she hasn’t been getting notifications recently either.
Thanks very much. Yes, the second one does work well and it’s an interesting case of conjuring up something quite different from what appeared to be there.
I think it’s very possible that you do recognise the feeder and the wire….
