Love the textures of the peeling paint that make great abstract art.

Yes, I can remember thinking as I was taking them “People passing by might think I’m crazy but this is where the interest really is”.

B&W grows more and more on me. I use it all the time for events and street, but I really should do more with it and experiment with landscapes. Love your adventures 🙂

I’m the other way round I think. I usually leave live music as colour but find mono landscapes can work well. I used to only shoot and print colour on film but get into mono much more in digital.

Very interesting to see the houses in mono, I prefer them this way to the colour and also the painted cars at Silverton. Strangely the nearly mono textures I did prefer in colour, it seemed to give them more depth, go figure that one 🙂

I think you’re right. The Broken Hill houses, especially work better in mono because there are no cues for time period and they could be historic photographs.

What a beautiful set, Murray. So effective in monochrome. The houses are wonderful to look at along with your textures and detail shots. Great post.

Thanks very much John. That’s the last from the Australian Outback. I’m back next to finishing off Grand Canyon and New Orleans. There will be mono posts but I haven’t much got into them yet.
