Your bird is an American Coot. I love New Orleans; I lived there for about 5 years (and elsewhere in Louisiana for another 15) and it’s one of very few places in the US I sorely miss now…and the Southwest is another, Colorado in particular. You’re on my Homesick Tour. 🙂

New Orleans is wonderful. Great music and food, goes all night and you can walk everywhere near the French Quarter.
