Alpefjord, Greenland. Day 45. 12th August 2013.
From Nanortalik the previous day, we passed through Antarctic Sund, Kong Oscar Fjord and Segelsällskapets Fjord to Alpefjord, navigating through a network of fjords without going out to sea. This morning it was a 6 o’clock start in the zodiacs.

I think this must be where twin glaciers come together towards the end of Alpefjord, Gullygletscher and Sefstrøm Gletscher. The rest of the images must be further in that direction.

One of the other zodiacs has also seen the seal.

What do they do when a prop blade hits a big piece of ice? Lordy, that one zodiac was loaded to the gills!

I think the blade is protected and the outboard pivotsd – so it would just bounce up. Wonderful things, zodiacs.
