Today Martiniano overcome our misgivings and persuaded us to travel to Lake Azul on horseback rather than on foot. Just as well he did. We would never have made it carrying our heavy photographic packs on foot. Lake Azul is a spectacular tarn (glacial lake) with the glacier perched above it.

You may have to click on the image above to see this in a larger view, but there are a couple of branches with bright yellow-orange leaves, above the “C” in “Copyright”. Whole antarctic beech forests in Patagonia turn bright yellow to red in late autumn. We were unfortunately a little too early to see this.
