Sea Eagles’s nest.
We were on a cruise on the Arthur River and soon came across a sea eagle’s nest, though no residents were evident. This is a long term nest, maintained and used over multiple years and generations.

.
We were able to watch the changing features at the side of the river as we drifted past.

Sea Eagle diving for fish.
We knew there was going to be some fish thrown for an eagle but I was caught by surprise on the other side of the boat, otherwise I would have been using a longer lens. Still, there were more opportunities to come….

A side creek joining the river.

Reflections and cormorant.
.

.
.
Did you see the cormorant? It is a pied cormorant, sitting on or behind the fallen log to the right. (Click on the image for a larger size to see it better).
Great cormorant.
Another cormorant, but quite a different species.

.
Ripples in the water, stirred up by the wave of the boat.

And now a sea eagle, up in the branches of a tree, far away.

Here’s looking at you!

And he’s off! (she’s off?).

Majestically soaring on the breeze.

Back now to perfect reflections.

The river is contemplating becoming an oil painting.

Reflections conjured up by the wake of the boat.

An eagle and catch.
Not as close as it might appear. Taken at the full-frame equivalent of 900mm and cropped in about 50%.

Abstract reflections.

Bennett’s Wallaby.
We’d stopped for a brief walk on land at this point.
