Fatman Ferry.
The only way to get across the Pieman River is the Fatman Ferry. We had come this way the previous afternoon. Here the ferry is heading across to pick up a car.

MV Arcadia II.
The previous afternoon we undertook a cruise in the smaller boat on the left (maximum eight passengers – refer previous post). We undertook a longer cruise this morning in the larger boat in the middle. The MV Arcadia II is 17 metres long and was built of Huon Pine in 1939 as a luxury pleasure craft. (Huon Pine is now protected and no longer available for exploitation). It was requisitioned during WWII and subsequently was a scallop fishing boat. It became a cruise boat on the Gordon River in 1961 and has been plying the Pieman as a cruise boat since 1970.

We have just cast off and the Fatmen Ferry is taking the car across the river.

You can see why I call this post The Rorschach River though it is in fact the Pieman River.

Here it is! A sea eagle. Given the nest, there’s probably at least a pair.

We disembarked for a walk to Pieman Heads, which you can see in the distance.

Lots of wood washed up at the Heads in storms.

Magnificent shots. Rivers and surrounds are so photogenic.

Beautiful reflection photos Murray, I love what you do with your sharp eyes and capturing the perfect scene and ‘abstract shapes crested by the boat’s wake’.
