This post is later than usual.  A falling branch took out our power and internet. Power took two hours to restore, internet took nine days.

Vivonne Bay Jetty.

OK.  We are leaving Kangaroo Island and heading to Adelaide.  The ferry didn’t leave until 1pm (though the journey to the ferry took two hours) so on the way we stopped at Vivonne Bay on the south coast of Kangaroo Island.  This image and the next two are from Vivonne Bay.  It looks completely deserted but there is a small village about a kilometre away.

We had driven across the island, caught the ferry, driven to Adelaide and checked in at our accommodation.  Later in the afternoon we visited Adelaide Botanic Garden, not far from where we were staying.

Grey-headed flying foxes.

.

.

Grey-headed flying foxes are Australia’s largest bat, with a wingspan up to one metre (3′ 3″), and classified as vulnerable.  This colony took refuge in Adelaide Botanic Garden in 2010 due to loss of habitat in Eastern states and has been there ever since.
