Lake Tyrrell, near Sea Lake, Victoria, 3 July 2024.

On the way from Wahgunyah to Sea Lake (10 minutes from Lake Tyrrell) we viewed a couple of Silo Art sites.

Lake Tyrrell sunset views.
On the way I had seen many potential images in the late afternoon light, precise compositions flashing by at high speed, massive flat fields bordered by lines of trees, and furrows of silver stubble with late afternoon shadows, but there was no time to stop and contemplate that because I did not want to miss out on Lake Tyrrell.

Colours can be quite different with a long telephoto pointed to the most intense sunset colours and a wide angle pointed in a different direction. I also had a new Fuji camera and a new Nikon camera. I’m not sure whether that made much difference.

Milky Way view.
Fujifilm X-T5, 8-16mm f2.8 at 8mm, 15 secs, f2.8, 3200 ISO.
We went for dinner and then I came back later for night photography. The small green glow is a farmhouse at the other side of the lake (that we will see in a later image).

Star view, looking across lake.
The blue and green light areas are due to cars on a road behind the lake. The redness in parts of the sky may be due to an Aurora Australis. It would not have been visible to the naked eye. The perfection of the reflection shows how still the lake was.

Next morning, I got up before dawn and came to take these shots at another part of the lake.

The sunset and silo pics are great, but the Milky Way pics are my favourite.

I timed the trip for new moon when Milky Way was visible. There are a couple more to come from Kangaroo Island though the cloud closed in there after a night or two.

Murray,
You could make extra large prints of many of these photos, frame them, then have a gallery exhibition at Albert Hall.
Travel to your next venue for a photo shoot would be by private helicopter.

If only. Not easy to make money from fine art photography.
