Day 73. 10th September. Kerlingarfjöll, Highlands, Iceland.
.
Returning from Hveravellir and þjófadalir on my way back to Kerlingarfjöll, the four wheel drive vehicle is at the intersection where the F735 meets the F35. In the background is the Hofsjökull icecap.
.
This image and the next one are taken from the same place as the previous image, though looking in different directions.
.
.
This image and the next are taken further along on the F35.
.
Hofsjökull icecap, again.
.
This is probably shortly after turning off on the F347 sideroad to Kerlingarfjöll.
.
We pass by Gýgjarfoss again. It’s raining now, as you can see.
.
I’m not sure which mountain we are looking at here and in the next two images. Perhaps Snaekollur.
.
.
.
Four views of Hofsjökull icecap, very different to the two previously.

This one is worth clicking on to see larger.
.
Having reached Kerlingarfjöll, I went for a walk up the river for a few hours. There are many walks you can do in this region but as always you can’t do everything.
.
The bend in the distance was I think as far as I walked. It was still pretty damp, but nothing like a day or two before. There is a thermal area further on but I didn’t get that far.
.
An old pump, it seems, now operating more as a fountain.
.
A stunning place.
