Leaving Mungo on our way to Canberra, we drove to the nearest town, which ia Balranald, and stayed overnight in the caravan park. Arriving in early afternoon, we then headed to nearby Yanga Lake and Yanga Homestead in a corner of Yanga National Park. I was particularly hoping to photograph local bird life.

Lots of pelicans on the lake, some taking off.

Another shot of a pelican.
It’s out of focus in the background. I waited a while to see whether someone would turn up and offer me a lift somewhere on the tractor, but after some fractions of as second, I gave up.

Pelicans in the air.
There are also two dark birds, not sure what they are. They appear to be behind the pelicans, large birds with long wings. The ends of the wings suggest a raptor but they seem to me to be not the right shape to be a wedgetail eagle.

A dark bird again, probably the same as the previous image. It looked to me like a goose, but I couldn’t find any Auustralia geese like that.

Corellas in the trees.
We are now back at our campground beside the Murrumbidgee River.
