Black River, Jamaica, 28 September 2016
.
Up early in the morning for the sunrise at Treasure Beach.
.
And somewhat later we’re heading off on the water for Black River (that’s the river, not the town, though we go past the town).
.
Coastal views along the way….
.
.
.
Dolphins.
.
.
Beachside shack, not a dwelling.
.
Floyd’s Pelican Bar. We’ll drop in there on the way back. Next post.
.
Serious subsidence problem, maybe due to a hurricane.
.
.
We’re about to pass by the town of Black River.
.
.
Friendly locals.
.
Cattle Egret.
.
It’s a little like the Louisiana Bayous.
.
.
.
.
Oncoming traffic.
.
.
Crocodile.
.
Traditional water craft. Whether there is any cultural link to the Arawak is doubtful though possible.
.
.
.
.
Returning.
.
.
.
Another crocodile.
.
A fan of Vladimir Nabakov, it seems.
.

I remember doing a nice little boat tour of the Black River. Hard to get a good croc photo though! You did better than me!

Yes, they do tend to lurk in the shadows. And it helps to have a long lens.
