28 to 30 August 2017, Mount Field National Park, Tasmania
.
After visiting Russell Falls, we continued up the road the Lake Dobson. Fortunately, the road was open which is not always the case in winter.
.
The road reaches a peak near the top of Mount Field before descending into the bowl where Lake Dobson lies. Here are a couple of images from near that high point.

There are many walking tracks in Mount Field National Park, some of them quite long. But we were only here for a day, so we just went for a walk around Lake Dobson, of an hour or so.
.
I was able to give Jools something of a taste of what walking through the snow was like on the Overland Track though it was only a short walk and the weather was quite benign.

Here Jools provides a reference for size against the pandani.

.
The pandani grove of the western side of the lake was particularly fetching in the snow.

We are now back near the carpark, looking across Lake Dobson which we have walked around.
