Road to Langisjór

Day 76. 14th September. F208 and F235 to Langisjór, Highlands, Iceland.

After leaving Jökulheimaleið, I returned along the F228 to the F208, then drove south until taking the turnoff along the F235 to Langisjór, a long deep glacial lake.

I think most or all of the earlier images are along the F208.

This is definitely on the F208, south of Landmannalaugar.

This is probably just after turning off on the F225.

And this is definitely a view from the f225.

It’s raining. You can see the raindrops on the lens.

And finally here we are, at Langisjór.

Day 76. 14th September. Jökulheimaleið, Highlands, Iceland.

It may change, but currently and for some time now, an extract from this image is the header of this blog, although this is a slightly different version using different source files.

Here we have a wondrous landscape, almost entirely black and white, but with tantalising hints of colours.

I was driving down Jökulheimaleið, towards Jökulheimar and the glacier view when I realised I was on a flat ridge and no longer on the road.

This wasn’t a problem though. I was in snow and could see my tyre tracks and turned around till I found the road again.

At that stage I turned back and never did get to Jökulheimar .

Day 76. 14th September. Jökulheimaleið, Highlands, Iceland.

This is the first of two posts in a dramatic black and white landscape. Snow on scoria.

I spent the night at Veiðivötn but I was having trouble with my vehicle. The roof wound up for sleeping and I could still get it up and down but the mechanism had partly broken. I rang up JS Campers and they drove out from Reykjavik, met me at Hrauneyfoss and swapped for another vehicle. Great service! So while I was at Hrauneyfoss I had a restaurant meal and filled up with petrol. Then I headed off back towards Veiðivötn but instead turned off along the Jökulheimaleið or F229. That leads to some huts at Jökulheimar and a glacier view but I didn’t get that far.
