We are now on our way back from Tasmania to Canberra.  On our way out of Hobart we stopped in at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens.  This first image is in the general part of the Gardens; the rest are from the Japanese Garden.

When I arrived there, I encountered a duck on a large stone in the middle of the pond, here drinking the water and perhaps contemplating his reflection.

… Set off here by reflections from the Taiko Bridge.

Water dripping out of a water spout, which traditionally would have been bamboo.

I am now inside the Arbour, looking through at the Taiko Bridge, with duck still posing on rock underneath.

The Japanese Garden was designed by Mr K Harada of Yaizu, Japan and was opened in 1987.

I walked around to the other side of the garden and decided to photograph the waterfall. The duck had noticed I was no longer photographing him on the stone so had wandered across to the waterfall to pose for me there.

No water coming out of this spout but there’s some falling from the sky.

Camelia, presumably a Japanese variety.

On the way back we went through back roads in the central highlands.  Here we are looking across the Great Lake.

And in this last shot we are looking out from Highland Lakes Road with North East Tasmania in the distance.
