Wineglass Bay Sail Walk Day 5
.
This morning we had breakfast off Schouten Island and then sailed to Cook’s Beach at the western side of Freycinet Peninsula where we walked along the Pensinsula Track to Wineglass Bay. What follows is some plants and views from walking along the track.
.
Hollow tree. Potential shelter in heavy rain.
.
Lichens.
.
Leaf on eucalyptus bark.
.
Casuarina, Clearly it has been raining but not while we were walking.
.
Looks like a correa but it’s epacris impressa.
.
I knew what this was at one stage but I’ve forgotten.
.
Presumably some kind of fern.
.
Banksia. Either Banksia Serrata or Banksia Marginata.
.
Casuarina.
.
Acacia mucronata subsp longifolia (Longleaf caterpillar wattle).
.
After a few hours we come out at Promise Bay, where we walk along the rock and sand until we reach the Isthmus Track to Wineglass Bay. This is looking south.
… and this is looking north, from almost the same spot.
.
We stopped for a bite to eat and just back from the beach and behind the dead tree, here is a dense clump of coastal wattle in flower.
.
Rain clouds in the distance, but not where we are.
.
Curious patterns on the beach as we walk along.
.
.
And now we are on the Isthmus Track to Wineglass Bay.
.
Banksia Marginata.
.
There’s a swamp on the isthmus. We didn’t need to walk through it.
.
And here we are, at the end of the track at the northern end of the beach at Wineglass Bay. There’s a kelp gull on the beach, some people walking along it and the ketch in the distance. You may need to click on the image to see that.
.
Especially like the last photo.
