I’d looked for Blues venues in New York before we went there and found Terra Blues which is in Bleeker Street in Grenwich Village and it was not long before we went there. We found it a friendly relaxed venue and saw some great music there.
This is Irving Louis Lattin, who was the support act. Here’s his MySpace site, with some of his music.

The rest of the images are of M. Powers Frequency, a New York band playing electric blues, sometimes rock and roll, sometimes Hendrix. Michael Murch Powers toured with James Cotton when he was young and here is his website, which comes up playing his music.

All these images are taken with the X100 which was surprisingly viable considering it has just a fixed 35mm equivalent lens, though it did help that we were able to get a table at the front. The low light was pushing the capacity of the camera but the images hold together quite well.

wow, very nice shots! I always find it challenging to shoot with red light on stage, but the result can be stunning. Your shot of Barry is amazing! 🙂 Cheers, Andreas

Thanks very much Andreas. If I remember it was tungsten lighting rather than LED. LED lighting adds an extra level of difficulty. I do a lot of live music. If you haven’t already seen them you may be interested to check out my Sydney Blues Festival images that I posted a week or two ago: https://murrayfoote.com/2012/11/17/sydney-blues-festival-2012/

Thanks very much Pam. Our hotel was like a railway station and you don’t get to talk to people on the streets of New York so it was really good to find a friendly club with great music.
