2nd March 2011 – The 38 hour day (Buenos Aires)

Plane left Sydney 11am, 13 hour flight across many timezones, arrived in Buenos Aires 10am. 38 hour day. Wonders of time travel in an aeroplane.

So here is the first image from the trip. We didn’t have much time in BA but we visited Teatro Colon, an Opera House built in the 20th Century to look like it came from the 18th.

There was an impressive ceiling in a huge vestibule..

… and there was an even more impressive ceiling in the main theatre, image above.

On the right, we have a view looking towards the back of the main theatre, taken with an ultra-wide lens.

There was a huge and amazing surrealistic theatre-sculpture on the stage but unfortunately we were not allowed to photograph it. (I had my back to it in the image to the right).

Above is a view of the main theatre from the President’s box

After a very good steak dinner at a city cafe, we returned to the hotel. Here is a night view from our hotel window right in the centre of Buenos Aires.
